DANTES Programs Support Health Science Careers

Health Science is the final career we will feature in our series of “Bright Outlook” Careers. Health Science involves providing people and animals with the medical care they need to be healthy. 170816-F-DB956-0033AThe employment outlook for careers in Health Sciences are described as “Bright” meaning this field is expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, with a large number of job openings, including new and emerging occupations. Previous DIB issues focused on careers in Business Administration and Management, Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics, as well as Information Technology. Health Science encompasses biotechnology research and development, diagnostic services, health informatics, support services, and therapeutic services. The Department of Labor projects that biosciences careers will grow at an average annual rate of 1.5 percent from 2008 and 2018. This article describes the Health Science cluster, discusses career pathways, and provides an overview of how DANTES-sponsored education programs support education opportunities in the Health Science field.
