How DANTES Programs Support Careers in Business

DANTES offers a variety of programs to support service members throughout their military career. For the next few months, the DIB will highlight how DANTES sponsored programs can help voluntary education personnel assist students in navigating through different career pathways. The goal of the career series is to equip counselors with the tools to create a personalized advisement experience that allows military students to:

  • Explore career pathways
  • Identify required knowledge and skills, and
  • Inform their decision making process for pursuing the best educational opportunities to enable their long-term professional success.

The career series will start by focusing on “Bright Outlook” occupations in the Business Management and Administration career field. According to the Department of Labor, Bright Outlook occupations are expected to grow rapidly in the next several years, will have large numbers of job openings, or are new and emerging occupations. Every ten years, the Bureau of Labor statistics (BLS) releases employment projections data to provide information people can use when choosing a career or determining the education and training needed for job success. These projections also feed the Occupational Outlook Handbook, published by BLS. The handbook is a guide to career information that students and counselors can use to learn about hundreds of occupations and the education and training required. The DANTES-sponsored College and Career Planning Counseling Services System, powered by Kuder Journey ®,  is fed by these same occupation projects, making it easier for military students and voluntary education professionals to access career information. The degrees offered through the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges Degree Network System (SOC DNS) and the certificates available in the SOC Career and Technical Education program were also realigned to occupation projections… READ MORE in the June DIB!
